Tennessee Titans QB Marcus Mariota Receives New Nissan Armada
Any fan of college football knows who Marcus Mariota is – the Oregon Ducks QB who led his team to the national championship against Ohio State this past January. He’s also the winner of this year’s Heisman Trophy with more than 90 percent of the total possible voting points awarded. Here at Nissan of Athens, many of us have sort of “adopted” Mariota, especially since he signed with the Tennessee Titans and will be playing in the newly named Nissan Stadium in Nashville this year. So you can imagine our excitement at hearing that Marcus Mariota was presented with a new Nissan Armada in a ceremony held at Nissan’s North American headquarters in Franklin, Tennessee.
Nissan and Football – Two Things We Love
The award to Mariota of the brand-new Nissan Armada was presented by Fred Diaz, Senior VP of Sales and Marketing for Nissan North America. “On behalf of all Nissan employees, we are pleased to welcome you, Marcus, to the Heisman House. We hear you more than held your own against some of the Heisman veterans during the production of the spots,” said Diaz.
The spots he was referring to are Nissan’s popular Heisman House ads on TV, featuring former Heisman Trophy winners. And of course fans all over Georgia and everywhere know that Nissan is a huge sponsor of both college and NFL football.
This year, Nissan again partners with ESPN to bring the former Heisman Trophy winners together in the Nissan Heisman House – a virtual hangout spot for college football fans and players. The Heisman House concept is also a chance for Nissan to give back to the communities where Nissan employees work and live.
Now in its 5th year, Nissan’s sponsorship of the Heisman House concept has proven to be a great way to raise awareness for communities and youth in need. In 2013 for example, six former Heisman winners went to Texas with Nissan representatives to build a Habitat for Humanity house and to hold a football clinic for underprivileged kids.
Here at Nissan of Athens, we couldn’t be more proud to be associated with such a worthy cause. And those who support Marcus Mariota and the Tennessee Titans are proud that he’s been honored by Nissan with a new Nissan Armada.
