vmotion 2.0

Nissan unveiled its Vmotion 2.0 automotive concept at the latest North American International Auto Show. The Vmotion 2.0 concept serves as a preview of the automaker’s upcoming sedan design. Nissan representatives described Vmotion 2.0 as an exciting new concept for the professionals of tomorrow and beyond. Take a look at Vmotion 2.0 and you will likely concur that it is quite dynamic in all respects. The new design concept also provides some clues as to what is in store for Nissan Intelligent Mobility. It even provides a vision for the company’s ProPILOT functionality that permits autonomous driving on city roads.

Details of the VMotion 2.0

Vmotion 2.0 is Nissan’s attempt to showcase what its sedans will look like in the near future. Much of the focus is on the cabin and front end. Take a look at existing Nissans on the streets and you will find the company’s signature V-motion design on their noses. Nissan vehicles like the Maxima and Murano feature this aesthetic. It is an angular, line-oriented and uber-stylish look to say the least. The look is exaggerated even more with Vmotion 2.0. The new design creates what has been dubbed as an “intelligent” 3D shape that truly adds to the vehicle’s architecture. The Vmotion front grille is the primary point of focus. The lines extend from the nose out along the body.

The Vmotion 2.0 design also features wrap-around style rear glass along with a floating C-pillar that boosts aerodynamics and generally adds to the vehicle’s aesthetic appeal. There is even a “floating roof” featuring a line that moves in a seamless manner from the A-pillars all the way to the trunk. The roofline is accented with a silver threaded carbon finisher. The wheelbase is extended quite wide to provide ample space for cabin niceties.

Take a look at the back of the vehicle and words like “strong”, “classy” and “upscale” will likely immediately come to mind. The taillights look similar to boomerangs and make the vehicle appear quite wide. The diffuser in the back also illuminates when the vehicle operates in ProPILOT mode. In terms of color, the high-tension body features a lovely silver hue with absolutely perfect copper undertones. The paint finish has a layered effect so onlookers who view the body at different angles observe subtle differences in color.

A Look at the VMotion 2.0 Cabin

The front and back doors open to form a massive space that allows for easy entry into the Vmotion 2.0 cabin. The cabin is quite spacious and welcoming. The signature Gliding Wing dashboard design theme is still present. It serves to blend the infotainment system with the instrument panel so the driver and front passenger can access them with ease. The center console has a multi-function touchpad that makes infotainment operation quite easy.

The horizontal display implements the ProPILOT graphic user interface without flaw. Even the passengers in the back have a smaller screen positioned on the center console that replicates the images displayed on the front screen. The seating is soft and supportive. Made with gorgeous leather and inserts with threadless quilting, these seats look similar to designer purses. Even the inside of the doors and the floor are swagged out with eye-catching Zebra wood.

Nissan Intelligent Mobility

Nissan representatives also used the North American International Auto Show to provide some clues about Nissan Intelligent Mobility. This is Nissan’s push to create vehicles that produce zero emissions as well as zero driver/rider deaths. ProPILOT mode is the autonomous driving technology that can kick in on urban streets and even at intersections. When the vehicle transitions to ProPILOT mode, the front end’s Nissan emblem illuminates to make pedestrians and fellow auto operators aware of the fact that the vehicle has entered autonomous mode.
