Nissan Technology available at Nissan of Athens GA

For anyone who hasn’t been paying attention lately, advances in automotive technology have been coming fast and furious in recent years. From safety to performance to fuel economy and convenience features, the cars and trucks available today are the most technologically advanced that we’ve ever seen. Nissan has always been a leader when it comes to innovative design features, and lately Nissan engineers have been at the forefront of some of the most sophisticated technology advances yet.

Nissan’s commitment to automotive technology shows in advances such as the exclusive Nissan Safety Shield® design. This innovative concept incorporates multiple systems within the vehicle to Monitor, Respond and Protect. Other technologies are designed to improve vehicle efficiency, enhance driving performance and provide more comfort to occupants. All of these advances mean a safer and better driving experience for drivers from Jefferson to Loganville to Winder to right here in Athens, GA.

Nissan Safety Shield® Technology

With Nissan Safety Shield®, vehicles now have the ability to identify and warn us of impending danger, actively respond to emergency situations, and protect us better if a collision happens. It does this using a comprehensive system that operates in three distinct phases.

Monitor

  • Around View® Monitor – this feature uses cameras located on the front, rear and both sides of the vehicle to display a virtual bird’s-eye view of the perimeter of the vehicle.
  • Rearview Monitor – shows you what is directly behind the vehicle when backing up. When the vehicle is placed in reverse, the Rearview monitor automatically displays on the in-dash screen.
  • Blind Spot Warning – will detect when a vehicle is in your blind spot and illuminates an indicator. If the turn signal is activated indicating the intention to change lanes, an audio alarm will sound.
  • Lane Departure Warning – detects when the vehicle strays from the lane and notifies the driver using audio and visual alerts.
  • Moving Object Detection – can detect when something is moving into the vehicle’s path when in reverse, and will provide audio and visual alerts.

Respond

  • Vehicle Dynamic Control – detects when wheels are losing contact with the road and responds by reducing engine power and even applying the brakes when necessary to individual wheels.
  • Traction Control System – works in conjunction with VDC to detect when the vehicle is losing traction and responds by adjusting power or braking to maintain traction.
  • Electronic Brake-force Distribution – detects when emergency braking is required and applies maximum brake-force quicker. This system can also detect additional weight in the rear of the vehicle and apply more brake-force to the rear wheels.

Protect

  • Nissan Advanced Air Bag System – Uses seat belt sensors and an occupant classification system to inflate the airbags based on crash severity and occupant seat belt use. The system uses a combination of front, side, seat-mounted and roof-mounted dual-stage airbags.
  • Active Head Restraints – help reduce the possibility of whiplash injury by adjusting during certain collision conditions.

Other Nissan Vehicle Technology features

In addition to the vast array of safety technology incorporated into Nissan vehicles, other advances in technology continue to improve the efficiency and performance of Nissan cars, trucks and SUVs. Here are some recent technology systems you can find in Nissan vehicles.

  • Nissan Connect™ uses voice commands to access navigation features, music, weather and even social media applications. You can check traffic conditions and search for gas stations on your route – all while keeping your hands on the wheel and your eyes on the road.
  • Nissan’s next generation Xtronic CVT (continuously variable transmission) offers continual acceleration with reduced friction and more consistent power. The result is a smoother ride that is up to 15% more fuel-efficient than competitors.
  • Active Ride Control is Nissan’s technology that is designed to reduce the bumps you encounter while driving. Using a combination of very slight braking and engine torque variation, the pitch that comes from bumpy roads is dampened. When this dampening effect is combined with the specially designed shock absorbers, it results in a more comfortable driving experience.

Nissan continues to produce some of the safest and most technologically advanced vehicles on the road today. Their commitment to automotive excellence and innovation shows in the high safety ratings and awards bestowed on so many Nissan models. Here at Nissan of Athens, we’re proud to offer the entire line of exciting Nissan vehicles to our clients in the greater-Athens area. Come in and see why Nissan technology is still leading way.
