2016 Nissan Maxima

Here at Nissan of Athens we’ve been eagerly awaiting the all-new next generation Maxima. In fact, to say that we’ve been eager is an understatement. We’ve been hearing about the improvements and upgrades coming to the new 2016 Nissan Maxima for months now, and just couldn’t wait to get our hands on them. Well, now that it’s here, we think it was definitely worth the wait.

This latest generation of the premium sedan in the Nissan lineup is both completely restyled, and yet familiar. The performance is just what you expect from Nissan’s 4-door sports car, and the aggressive styling is as cutting-edge as ever. The interior appointments could easily be confused for a premium Infiniti cabin, but there’s no mistaking the driver-focused cockpit for anything but a Maxima.

While the new Maxima is one of the best-looking cars on the road, where it really shines is when you actually take it out on the road. The acceleration, handling and performance of this next-generation Maxima is just astonishing. With a redesigned 3.5-liter V6 and an all-new, completely re-engineered Xtronic CVT, the 2016 Nissan Maxima is everything we expected it to be.

New Nissan Maxima Specs and Performance

  • Starting MSRP: $32,410
  • Engine: 3.5-liter 24-valve V6
  • Power: 300-horsepower @ 4,400 rpm
  • Transmission: Xtronic CVT with Drive Mode Selector
  • Drive type: Front-wheel drive
  • Fuel Economy: 30 MPG hwy/22 MPG city

When we’re told that the designers at Nissan set out to build a fighter jet-inspired sports car, we take them at their word. Acceleration in this new Maxima really does feel like a fighter launching from the deck of an aircraft carrier. With zero-to-sixty times somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 seconds, you can expect to feel plenty of g-force on acceleration.

With performance technology borrowed from Nissan’s famed GT-R supercar, the new 2016 Maxima is one of the most dynamic driving experiences available. It is both lighter in weight and stiffer in body rigidity than the previous generation, for exceptional performance and cornering. And with the Drive Mode Selector in Sport Mode, Maxima feels even more like the GT-R it borrows from.
