2017 Nissan Pathfinder Redesign
Nissan made major changes to the Pathfinder in 2013 when they moved it from a truck-based SUV over to a car-based crossover platform. While those changes have been very well received, making the Pathfinder one of the perennial leaders in its class, Nissan is again making changes for the 2017 model year – and some pretty big changes at that. The new 2017 Nissan Pathfinder is poised to become the best – and probably most popular – vehicle to bear the Pathfinder nameplate.
Taking a Look under the Hood of the New 2017 Pathfinder
First things first. While the new Pathfinder is getting an upgrade to its exterior, many of the big changes go right to the heart of the matter. Today’s crossover buyer wants more power. Today’s crossover buyer doesn’t want to sacrifice versatility or fuel economy to get it. Nissan heard you loud and clear.
The new 3.5-liter V6 engine powering the 2017 Pathfinder pushes 260 horses and 240 lb-ft of torque. Properly equipped, that’s good for a whopping 6,000 lb. towing capacity. As you might suspect, that propels the Pathfinder right to the front of its class when it comes to towing. And even with all that power, the new Pathfinder will still give you 23 mpg combined – 27 mpg on the open road and 20 mpg in the city. Simply put, this isn’t a glorified station wagon. You can do all the things you’d want to do in an SUV, especially if you opt for the 4-wheel drive option.
The New Redesign is Just as Flexible as Ever

While Nissan has made some major changes, there are some things about the new Pathfinder that will be very familiar to fans of the nameplate. The Pathfinder will still seat seven very comfortably with the third seat in. It’ll still carry up to 80 cubic feet of cargo when you stow the seats. You’ll find it as easy as ever to make the changes in configuration that make Pathfinder such a versatile crossover. Add in a new motion activated lift gate and the Pathfinder is even easier to load up than before.
The 2017 Nissan Pathfinder’s New Look
Pathfinder has a long-standing reputation as a good-looking vehicle among SUVs and crossovers. The updates will only add to that reputation. With new styling and features like boomerang-shaped LED headlights, the redesigned Pathfinder keeps pace with the best new crossovers in terms of styling.
Lots of New Tech Features Keep You Safer, Better Connected
It’s no secret that today’s new cars are increasingly offering you options to stay connected while driving. Advances in automotive technology allow you to control your climate control, infotainment and more easily with a touchscreen or voice command. As always, Nissan strives to stay ahead of the curve, and the tech features on the redesigned Pathfinder showcase that.

Pathfinder drivers and their passengers are safer than ever. Not only are there advanced overhead airbags to deploy in case of a rollover, but there are a variety of driver-alertness features designed to make you more aware of your surroundings in a 360-degree perimeter. These include:
- Around View Mirror
- Forward Emergency Braking
- Moving Object Detection
Add to that convenient and safe features like intelligent cruise control, which helps you maintain distance when following other vehicles on cruise and intuitive four wheel drive, which ensures that traction is distributed more evenly among your Pathfinder’s tires and you have a vehicle that’s among the safest on the road. Meanwhile, Nissan Connect helps you stay connected – safely – while you’re on the road, allowing you to access information, the Internet, your infotainment system and more, much of it by voice command.
