Features

Exterior

From the moment you see the new Nissan Maxima, you realize that this is a vehicle designed with both style and performance in mind. From its powerful stance and aggressive, well-defined lateral lines to the tall and muscular rear end, this is a driver?s car. Although only slightly larger than its sibling, the Altima, this muscular sport sedan is far more different than its little sibling. For one thing, the Maxima is more chiseled and assertive. For another, the aggressive grill opening and boomerang headlamps outline a rather forceful head-on appearance. The longer and lower body of the Maxima also contribute to the overall appearance of a car that?s ready to rumble. Rain-sensing wipers, 18-inch aluminum alloy wheels and LED lights are also standard.

Interior

The new Nissan Maxima's interior is appealing as its exterior, and further sets Maxima apart from the more traditional Altima. The cockpit-like console is tightly wrapped around the driver in a true sport sedan style. There is plenty of metallic trim and soft touch surfaces to be elegant, but you never lose sight of the fact that you?re in a driver?s car. The 8-inch touchscreen is standard across all Maxima styles, and is canted toward the driver. The controls that frame the console are easy to see and use. NASA-inspired seats are comfortable enough for a long trip, and supportive enough for any sport driving you might do. Quilted leather seat stitching is an option in the Platinum trim level.

Technology

In keeping pace with its appearance and performance, the new Nissan Maxima also boasts a set of technology features that would please anyone. NissanConnect® is standard in every Maxima, and offers voice recognition and Google search features. A rearview monitor is also standard, as is the 7-inch Advanced Drive Assist® Display. Nissan's Intelligent Key® system helps to keep your Maxima safe with its immobilizer feature, and also offers remote engine start with Intelligent Climate Control. Available features include; heated front seats, forward collision warning system, adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, surround-view cameras and more.

Performance

With a 300-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 engine, the Maxima is a force to be reckoned with. But that's just the beginning of this powerhouse. More than 60-percent of this 3.5-liter Nissan engine has been redesigned for the new Maxima, from the high-flow tuned induction system to the anodized pistons and sodium-filled exhaust valves. The resulting output is exhilarating from idle to redline. Also redesigned specifically for the new Maxima is the updated continuously variable transmission (CVT) that features dynamic step shifting, a wider gear ratio, and an adaptive shift controller. The result is an impressive zero-to-sixty time of less than 6 seconds.

Safety

Safety features on the new Maxima include Nissan's Advanced Air Bag System, with seat belt and occupant classification system to go with the front, side and roof mounted air bags. Vehicle Dynamic Control with Stability Control is standard. Available safety features include forward collision warning, automatic braking, adaptive cruise control and drowsy/distracted driver alert systems. All of these features have led the NHTSA and IIHS to give Maxima its highest marks for safety.
